CADSpan is the result of years of research into how architects can easily take advantage of Rapid Prototyping technology to automatically build concept models of their designs.

CADSpan can use accept formats from a wide variety of 3D modelers. We currently process 3ds, obj, ply, lwo, dxf, vrml, and off. Let us know if you need more!

Before CADSpan, the 3D virtual input for RP had to be modeled using a CAD package that was capable of solid modeling. For some engineers, in industrial and mechanical design, programs like Pro Engineer and Solidworks can output files that are useable by rapid prototypers. However, even high end CAD programs can generate rapid prototyping or, “STL” files that have errors. While tools to repair STL files are available, the patch and repair techniques can take hours.

Simpler modeling packages could not be used if rapid prototyping was part of the process flow.
